Ruth shares her experience of an adrenaline‑filled day as she begins to discover Alvie estate activities.
Waking up to peaceful views feels like a treat. After breakfast, my husband and I stroll to the G2 Zip Park. Joe greets us warmly and explains what to expect. We choose the Zip Trek, an aerial ride of 14 wires stretching over 2km. The final wire is 550m. It sounds wild, but we can’t wait.

The journey is unforgettable. Each zip builds in length and excitement. Joe and the team keep us safe and relaxed. Their guidance and light‑hearted chat help us enjoy every moment. We glide between treetop platforms and sweep through the forest canopy. The views are panoramic and spectacular.
Back on solid ground, we head to Dalraddy Park Street Food Hub for lunch. Their street‑food style dishes use local ingredients from Alvie and Dalraddy Estates. The menu blends modern flavours with classic favourites. Before leaving, we grab creamy lattes from coffee at Dalraddy for an afternoon boost.

There are many great experiences on the estate, but we choose Clay Pigeon Shooting. Neither of us has tried it before, so we feel a little nervous. David is brilliant calm, knowledgeable, and reassuring. The aim is simple: track the flying clay, align the sights, and fire at the perfect moment. The rush when the clay shatters is incredible. For everyone’s sake, we won’t reveal who hit more.

After a short walk back to the cottage, we grab cold Cairngorm Brewery beers from the fridge. Snacks appear quickly after. We relax by the firepit, watching farmland and forest stretch into the distance. It’s the perfect end to a full day.
