The twenty acres of private grounds provide large open lawns, including a putting area, a children’s play park, and your very own trout lochan with rowing boat.
Start your highland holiday with the morning light flooding into your relaxing getaway, and throw open doors with a coffee in hand, whilst the dogs run off their excitement. Later whilst the children are occupied with the playpark, sit back with a glass of wine, and amazing countryside views, and dream about what tomorrow brings…
Imagine rowing on your very own loch, feeling like a character from a grown-up version of Wind in the Willows, you are never too old for some magical moments (ok you can bring the kids too!).
The dining room’s banquet table makes every meal feel ceremonious, seating all 20 guests in comfort and grandeur. We can also recommend a local private chef, so you can be transported back to the Georgian age and experience the true opulence of Cray House. After dinner, you can all spread out to enjoy a relaxing evening with a choice of three sitting rooms, and the expansive outdoor area.

Nestled on the edge of Perthshire and the Cairngorms National Park, there really is something for everyone. We have shared a few of the outdoor activities and pursuits that you can experience whilst staying at the house. When you book with us, you have exclusive access to our concierge service, along with our exclusive packages that give you access to the best the local area has to offer.
Fishing
There are 2 fly rods available in the house for free brown trout fishing on our lochan. Salmon fishing is also available on our 2-mile stretch of the River Shee. Permits and a ghillie can be arranged.
Golf
There are numerous great golf courses within easy reach of Cray House, including an 18-hole course at Pitlochry and a 9-hole course on the Dalmunzie Estate just half a mile away. For the real enthusiast, championship courses at Gleneagles and St Andrews are only an hour and a half away.
Mountain guides, walks and biking
There are a wide selection of local rides and walks at different levels. You can even arrange a guide to help you make the most of the surrounding mountain ranges.
Skiing
Winter skiing (usually December – March) is minutes away at the nearby Glenshee Ski Centre, the largest ski area in Scotland. There is a very good ski school and equipment can be hired at the ski area.
Stalking and shooting
For experienced stalkers, we are able to organise day trips in neighbouring Glenisla with knowledgeable local gamekeepers. You may even be able to bag a McNab! (this is when you aim to stalk a deer, catch a salmon and bag a brace of Grouse all within daylight hours of a single day)
Clay pigeon shooting
We’re happy to organise clay pigeon shooting locally for groups of between 2 and 5. Great fun for both beginners and experts alike!
Riding
There are several local centres offering short and long treks through the countryside or up onto the moors. Hacks can be tailored to suit both novice and more experienced riders.
