About The Dell of Rothiemurchus

The Dell of Rothiemurchus, a large luxurious holiday lodge, sleeping 24 is an exquisite house of the 1900s, with breathtaking views and landscaped gardens that are almost unequalled in their size and beauty in this area.

The Dell is quietly hidden away on the Rothiemurchus Estate, but only a 20 minute walk into Aviemore. The reception rooms and many of the bedrooms look out over the manicured lawn, across pastures where a herd of Scotland’s iconic Highland cattle roam, to Cairngorm Mountain itself. A more quintessential and idyllic Highland view would be hard to find anywhere!

Kitchen

The house can accommodate a big group of family or friends over three floors – with so much space both inside and out. There is a lovely terrace through French windows from the kitchen, for a long leisurely breakfast overlooking the lawn, or take a seat at the table or the bar whilst someone whips up dinner. Cooks will love the oversized Aga range, plus there’s an electric oven and gas hob.

Living

Across the hall from the kitchen is a big beautiful lounge to relax in whilst watching either a movie or the flickering flames of the big woodburner in the fireplace.

Bedrooms and bathrooms

On the first floor, two superking bedrooms look out over the lawn and mountains; one even has a fabulous fireplace. The third bedroom, (superking) is ensuite with a double size shower. Also on this floor is a grand bathroom with double shower and freestanding original cast iron bath, from which you can look out to the Cairngorms whilst you soak! The second bathroom across the landing has bath, shower and a handy dressing room.

On the second floor, the twin bedroom has been designed for children and has a perfect view of the Highland cattle pastures. Another bedroom has a kingsize bed and an ensuite shower, and the third is a roomy triple. The last bedroom up here, a double, has an ensuite loo and shower room which looks out towards the Craigellachie Nature Reserve, above Aviemore. The bathroom on this floor has a double shower.

The West Wing

The West Wing, connected internally with the main house has the same wonderful period feel and original features as the main house.

Kitchen

Here there is a second and very pretty farmhouse kitchen with a table to seat 10. It also has a double oven and electric hob, fridge-freezer and dishwasher.

Living

Across the hall is the lovely sitting room, looking south over the lawn and with a snug little wood burning stove.

Bedrooms and bathrooms

On the first floor are two bedrooms with either superking or twin beds, one with a useful additional third single bed. The bathroom on this floor has a bath with integrated shower. Up another floor are two further very pretty bedrooms – one superking and one twin, as well as a loo and shower room. There’s also another shower room on the ground floor.

Amenities

Double doors lead to a games room for some serious fun – a pool table and a cocktail bar. There’s also a snug room with TV and DVD player, which could be used as an office should anyone bring any work or study on holiday.

Outdoors

The grounds of this large luxurious holiday lodge make it extra special and also give it 360 degree privacy. At the back of the house are further gardens, with a charming Wendy house where children can imagine all sorts of holiday adventures. There are mature trees, a tree swing and flat smooth lawns for games of rounders. At the bottom of the garden, with a magnificent view of Craigellachie hill, is the fabulous paved leisure area for whiling away the days in the warmer months. Here you will find the large hot tub and next to it is a huge firepit with seating round three sides. To the other side of the hot tub is a gas-fired barbecue range, large enough to cater for the entire house with plenty to spare!

Location

Tucked away from the busy centre of Aviemore, you’re only a short walk from the Rothiemurchus Centre and Farm Shop for all the supplies you’ll need. You’re also just around the corner from dreamy Loch an Eilein with its lochside walks, Loch Morlich with its watersports and beach, and you’re well on the way towards Cairngorm Mountain for skiing in the winter.

July 2026
We had a lovely family weekend at Dell of Rothiemurchus. There were 22 of us ranging in age from 11 months to 76 and we all enjoyed it. The house was lovely, very clean and well equipped with everything we could have needed. The hot tub was well used and the bbq and the pool table was a hit with old and young but it was the beautiful gardens that stole the show. We played rounders, football and the kids spent most of the time outdoors. I would certainly recommend the house for a relaxing break.
June 2026
Wonderful large house with 11 bedrooms. Outdoor space is exceptional with BBQ and fire pit areas and seating for 12 at table or around 18 around the fire pit. We are a group of 12 golfers and it suited us perfectly.
April 2025
The property was perfect and exactly what we needed for our group. It was easy to gain access, it was clean and had everything that we needed for our weekend. The grounds and space that comes with the property was excellent - I would highly recommend and we will definitely be back!

We had an amazing time, all of the family absolutely loved the house and couldn’t fault it. My son loved the football table and we enjoyed the sunset while situated at the fire pit. We will definitely book again through yourselves.
