Rose Cottage

Rose Cottage is a beautifully renovated traditional stone cottage, thoughtfully updated throughout to create a stylish and comfortable retreat for up to four guests. Perfect for a family holiday or a relaxing couple’s escape. It’s the ideal jumping-off spot for days out in the Cairngorms National Park and the ideal place to return to each evening to relax and recharge before the next adventure.

The house was built in 1910, and there are clues to its heritage in the dark wood flooring in the living room, the Victorian fireplace in the main bedroom and the high, narrow window in the kitchen. There, however, the traditional feel gives way to a beautifully contemporary interior, with the cottage extensively renovated and finished throughout in a natural, calming Farrow & Ball colour palette.

Living and dining

Enter the front porch, with plenty of storage for outdoor wear, and into the entrance hall, where a right turn leads into the spacious living room. After dinner, light the wood burning stove, grab your drink of choice and sink into one of the soft and comfortable sofas.

Kitchen

On the other side of the living room is the light, airy kitchen, thoughtfully equipped with high-quality, easy-to-use appliances, including a dishwasher, large SMEG fridge-freezer, washing machine, wine fridge and coffee pod machine for your morning caffeine fix. There’s also a dining table which comfortably seats four.

Bedrooms and bathroom

Back out to the entrance hall you’ll find two comfortable bedrooms. The main bedroom has a kingsize bed, dressing room and en-suite, while the second bedroom can be configured as either a king or a twin. Both bathrooms have been completely refurbished, each with a shower, with the family bathroom conveniently located alongside the second bedroom.

Location

The first thing you notice about this pet-friendly home is its unbeatable location in the heart of Carrbridge. You’re a five-minute walk from a fantastic pub, cafes, the local shop and the golf course, yet you can still enjoy complete privacy here thanks to thoughtful landscaping and a fully enclosed rear garden (great for children and dogs). If you are holidaying with children, you won’t want to avoid a visit to Landmark Adventure Park, situated just across the road. It’s so close that you could easily pop home for lunch before heading back for more fun in the afternoon.

This is the ideal location for a family holiday or couple’s retreat, with your dog, as easy paths crisscross the woods on both sides of the cottage, offering so much variety that you could explore somewhere new each time you head out. Carrbridge has train and bus links, so you don’t need a car to enjoy a lovely stay here, but Rose Cottage does have parking for two cars as well as secure storage for mountain bikes or skis in the large, locked garden shed. If you can tear yourself away from the craft beer, burgers and more at the pub, there’s a barbecue and outdoor table for the longer evenings.
