About Oak Cottage
You’ll find Oak Cottage; a beautifully modern holiday cottage in the Highlands, tucked away along a quiet cul-de-sac in the pretty village of Kincraig. Don’t be fooled by the lodge’s outwardly modest appearance, for it hides a delightful secret around the back: a huge extension with floor-to-ceiling glass on three sides and large skylights for even more natural light. This extension hosts a Shaker-style kitchen with a generous island, plus a dining and lounge area.
On warmer days, open the sliding doors and enjoy indoor-outdoor living, leaving the kids to play freely in the natural and safely enclosed oak woodland that slopes upwards from the sunny patio. These woodlands attract red squirrels, and bird watchers won’t be disappointed thanks to visiting woodcocks, great spotted woodpeckers, redstarts and tree pipits. You might even be lucky enough to spot osprey fishing in Loch Insh or buzzards circling overhead. On colder days, stay cosy next to the wood burner on your choice of sumptuous four-seater sofa or a Scandi-inspired armchair, surrounded by nature.
Kitchen and living
The kitchen is ideal for large groups, with Neff ovens, a massive larder cupboard and wine fridge. Through a pair of French doors from the kitchen is a separate lounge with an open fire: the perfect space for a board game or three. You’ll find a fantastic selection of games in the wooden chest that doubles as a coffee table. The lounge also has a Smart TV and Bose speaker, plus squishy seats for all the family. Movie night sorted.
Bedrooms and bathrooms
There are two bedrooms downstairs – one twin and one double – along with a luxe shower room and separate toilet. A utility room holds the washing machine and dryer.
Upstairs, there’s a bright, spacious main bedroom with ensuite, a cute and cosy single room, a twin room, and a family bathroom with bath and shower. The front-facing bedrooms offer great views over the Glen Feshie mountains and the River Spey.
Amenities
There’s no chance anyone in your party will suffer from boredom at this modern holiday cottage in the Highlands. There’s a ping pong table in the garage (which can be taken out onto the patio), scooters to borrow and, of course, the generous garden to explore.
Outdoors
To the front of the house you’ll find a flat lawn, and an electric car charging point. The woodlands to the rear are enhanced by having been left to nature. A gate from the back garden leads straight onto the Speyside and Badenoch Ways: a boon for walkers and cyclists. And once you’ve worked up a thirst, you’re ideally placed to quench it with a stroll down the lane to the charming Old Post Office Gallery and Coffee Shop or – five minutes further on – the local pub, The Suie Bar.

Customer reviews
Thanks for having us in your beautiful property, Oak Cottage has been a wonderful place to stay. The owners have truly thought of everything, making it feel welcoming, comfortable, and well equipped. Our boys absolutely loved exploring the garden and playing up in the woods, and we were lucky enough to spot several red squirrels during our stay, which was a real highlight. The cottage provided the perfect social space for our family to come together and celebrate Mum's 70th birthday. It helped make the occasion incredibly special, and we'll always treasure the memories we made here. Thank you so much for your hospitality and for creating such a beautiful place for families to enjoy. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Oak Cottage and hope to return one day.
This was our second stay at Oak Cottage, and we have already booked for 2027. I think that says it all!
We have just spent a week at Oak Cottage in Kincraig, Cairngorms. What an amazing week. The property was beautifully clean when we arrived, an excellent lay out, we especially enjoyed the seating area around the log burner. The location is perfectly placed to experience the beauty of the area. The Highlands Wildlife park is well worth a visit (only 10 mins away) if you are wanting a break to experience of the Cairngorms. The start of the week we had snow, middle of the week we had a BBQ in the garden so we had all the weather's. However the best part was the Wildlife, Red Squirrels in the garden, as close as the nearest tree and to absolutely top it off a pair of Ospreys arrived on Loch Insh, just 5 mins walk from Oak Cottage. Wow!
We had a family holiday here and house was perfect. Great family kitchen room but also separate lounge for quiet times. Kitchen was well fitted with appliances to cater for 9.
