About Kintail

Kintail is a three-bedroom holiday cottage that has been built with generous proportions, giving the whole property a lovely sense of brightness and spaciousness. It’s in a brilliant location for a holiday in the Cairngorms National Park, surrounded by Rothiemurchus woodland and just two miles from Aviemore.

Living

You enter Kintail through the porch into a wide corridor, branching off to the lounge, kitchen and dining room. In the lounge, there’s a wood-burning stove, loads of soft seating, paintings by celebrated local artist Ann Vastano – and an enormous upholstered footstool. It’s a genius and flexible addition to the space, letting everyone put their feet up, or acting as a coffee table for a spread of film snacks. If your group can’t decide which film to watch, no need to fret: there’s a snug along the corridor. With its bean bags and big sofa, the snug is the perfect space for kids of all ages to play and relax.

Kitchen and dining

The kitchen is south-facing and overlooks Kintail’s sheltered outdoor seating. This calming and practical space has not one but three sinks, a coffee pod machine, a bread maker, a large fridge, and an equally large standalone freezer. Garden access from here is through a utility room – a great place to stash wet and dirty outdoor gear. To eat, you can perch at the small breakfast bar or head next door to the dining room.

Bedrooms and bathrooms

Along the corridor are the three bedrooms (one king with an ensuite, one double and one twin), a family bathroom with super-sized shower, and the snug.

Outdoors

The generous dimensions continue outside in Kintail’s sprawling garden. Play football on the lawn (there are proper goals), or start a never-ending game of hide-and-seek among the shrubs and bushes. Rainy days are a cinch here, as the garage is home to table tennis, foosball, mini snooker and air hockey.

Location

Beyond the garden, adventure awaits. Set on the outskirts of Coylumbridge, Kintail lies just off the road that leads skiers, hikers, Munro-baggers and view-seekers to the Cairngorm Mountain car park. Stunning paths lead in all directions, too. From the doorstep, you can walk or cycle off-road through Caledonian pine forest to Loch Morlich, Badaguish, Glenmore, Loch an Eilein and more. The off-road path to Aviemore (10 minutes by bike, 40 minutes on foot) passes the Barn Cafe and Farm Shop at Rothiemurchus.

We have just returned from a very relaxing 3 night stay at Kintail Coylumbridge. The cottage was so comfortable and perfect for 6 of us. I have never seen a better equipped kitchen with quality equipment for all types of cooking including a bread maker! The table tennis was a knock out for the younger and older generations. We were lucky to see the sun and sat out in the well designed garden listening to the birds and red squirrel spotting. A true home from home with plenty of space for all. Great board game cupboard too. Thanks for helping us make great family memories. We can’t wait to return.

We had a wonderful stay at Kintail Cottage. The weather was a mixed bag with snow and sleet the first couple of days to warm spring sunshine. We were nice and cosy in the cottage. What a gem this property is. It is spacious, well equipped and comfortably furnished. There is plenty of space for everyone. The property impresses as you drive up to it. There is plenty of off road parking and a lovely garden surrounds the property. The property was very clean and the linen and towels are of good quality. It is so good we have booked to return. For outdoor pursuits the Cairngorms are on your doorstep. There are fantastic walking and cycling routes from the cottage. You don't need to use the car. Rothimercus Barn and Farm Shop are a short walk away as well. I highly recommend Seasgair Lodges if you want a lovely stay in the Cairngorms.

A beautiful home from home! Little touches to help us feel relaxed and refreshed. Enough space for the whole family to chill out. Great for a week of dog walks, catch ups and coffee stops. Thank you!
