  • Few lodges can match the luxury of Kincraig House, its size, grandeur and elegance. This Grade II listed house sleeping 18 is part of the Dunachton Estate – one of the largest country estates in Strathspey.

The Duchess of Bedford was just one of the glamorous previous occupants, having taken it as her summer residence. In 1937 it was purchased by Lorna Forbes-Leith (great-great-aunt of the current owner).

Extensively refurbished in 2019 you will now find period architecture, family heirlooms, wonderful original fittings and fixtures cleverly mixed with cool, modern luxury and Scandinavian palettes creating a uniquely relaxing ambiance of laid-back country luxe. Both inside and out are a paradise for children to play hide and seek with lots of nooks and crannies to hide and lots of space to run around.

The the luxury of Kincraig House begins as you walk into the entrance hall and are met by the original staircase which winds up past a huge double height picture window. Off the entrance hall are the kitchen and drawing room with wood burning stove, a perfect setting for family board games. On to a large dining room, which comfortably seats 18. All windows enjoy glorious views across farmland over to the Cairngorm mountains.

The ground floor’s double bedroom has an ensuite bathroom with roll-top bath. There is a further twin bedroom on this floor with its own large bathroom with bath and shower. There are additional sitting rooms in both the Forbes and Leith Wings, both with wood burning stoves, TV and DVD player – ideal if you have family members who may prefer their own space for movies or games.

There are four bedrooms on the first floor, including a gigantic principal bedroom suite which takes up all of the Forbes Wing first floor. In the bedroom itself is a freestanding roll-top bath as well as a shower, and of course a super-comfy superking size bed. The other three bedrooms on this floor are also ensuite and have superking size beds.

On the second floor are two large twin bedrooms. They share a large, luxurious bathroom with both a shower and a decadent roll-top bath. The bathroom is located in a large domed turret at the back of the house and is likely one of the most wonderful places you will ever take a soak in the tub! Two further fold out single beds can be placed in the second floor bedroom making the house a comfortable 18 sleeper.

Outside this Grade II listed house sleeping 18 you will find a large luxurious hot tub with an outdoor dining area within the private gardens that extend into the estate, forests and mountains beyond, conveniently just a short drive from Aviemore and Kingussie. A separate outbuilding houses a small rustic games room with table tennis table, perfect for family fun.

An array of activities can be found for all ages both on and around the estate. See the Leault Sheepdogs in action or pay a visit to The Highland Wildlife Park which was set up on the Southern edge of the estate in the early 1970s by Sir Andrew Forbes-Leith and is now run by The Royal Zoological Society of Scotland.
