Lassintullich House – stunning lodge in Highland Perthshire.

As we approach the summer, lazy days with family and friends are always top of the bucket list and we have the perfect large highland lodge for you! Lassintullich House offers accommodation near Loch Rannoch and the Tay Forest Park, making it ideal to explore the area. This stunning self-catering lodge in Highland Perthshire lends itself to large gatherings and celebrations, giving the balance of grand celebration spaces as well as breakaway spaces for moments of peace and reflection.

The House

Lassintullich House is a recently renovated Victorian lodge, sleeping 16, tucked between Loch Rannoch and Loch Tummel, just on the edge of the Cairngorms National Park. Making it a stunning self-catering lodge in Highland Perthshire for Highland walks, cycles, and wild swimming by day and dark skies and fireside fine dining by night.

Let us set the scene for you… The sense of arrival at Lassintullich is everything you expect from luxury lodges in the Highlands but there is a special magic to driving through the countryside to the foot of Schiehallion. The winding drive prepares you for the impressive sight of the house but not the stunning views from every window. It is a magical sight to behold and as the weather changes, the feel of the whole valley along with it. Cup of tea (or something stronger) in hand you can watch from the comfort of the cosy house or find one of the many sun traps in the grounds and leave the cares of the world behind.

Boasting 3 bedroom suites with a further 5 bedrooms and 3 separate sitting areas this really is the perfect spot for large gatherings to split off at different times of the day and then come back together over drinks and a grand evening meal in the dining room with the fire roaring or a simple breakfast in one of the 2 kitchens before heading out to the hills.

You can find the full details on Lassintullich House here.

The Grounds

The expansive grounds are the perfect place to explore, from the cute little summer house to the impressive firepit and seating area, to the inside/outside of the huge floor-to-ceiling doors leading you out from the main kitchen to the patio with table and chairs. From the house and grounds you’re straight out into the hills and if you’re feeling full of energy and up for a challenge onto climb Schiehallion (more details below). For those looking for a relaxed option, the grounds are an idyllic setting for a picnic or shady spot to read that book that you have been meaning to finish!

As if all of this wasn’t enough there is also a rowing boat down by the shore and you are welcome to use this during your stay.

Rannoch & Tummel

It’s not so much finding things to do but fitting it all in… there are so many beautiful walks to waterfalls, along the shores of Loch Rannoch or in the Rannoch forest. You can also enjoy the sandy beaches and go for a revitalising swim on the north side of the loch. All this teamed with lots of options for stopping off for refreshments, two of our favourites are the Rannoch Station Tearoom, which is a perfect quirky coffee stop, and for a more formal meal, the Dunalster’s Monadh restaurant takes some beating. There is also a great general store which is an ideal place to stock up on local produce to take back to the house.

Schiehallion

Schiehallion is both one of the best-known and easiest Scottish Munros to climb (maybe there is a link there!) It is an impressive sight with its almost perfect conical shape. It takes 4 to 6 hours to reach the summit and then you can enjoy invigorating wild views over the Great Moor of Rannoch.

Outlander

One of the most famous scenes of Outlander is set in Kinloch Rannoch, just a short distance from the house. It is the stone circles at Craigh na Dun, filmed at Kinloch Rannoch, that Claire goes back in time to 1743. For fans of the show, there is a chance to take a lovely walk through the woodland to the dramatic peaks of the moor. From here you can enjoy incredible views across the land, and understand where Outlander took it’s inspiration from.

Watersports

With magnificent scenery and good access points (including Kinloch Rannoch’s small beach), Loch Rannoch makes a fantastic location for a number of watersports including kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, canoeing, windsurfing and windsurfing. You can hire Canoes and Kayaks from Outdoor Explore.

The Scottish Crannog Centre

Just a short drive away you find a real piece of Scottish history! The Scottish Crannog Centre is based around traditional dwellings known as ‘Crannogs’ dating back 2,500 years.17 of these have been discovered on Loch Tay and the centre is a great place to find out more about this fascinating part of Scottish history.

With so much to do both at Lassintullich House and in the Loch Rannoch and Tay Forest Park area, this is the perfect Highland holiday home for gathering your friends and family on a trip that is sure to create lifelong memories for all.
